August 3rd-more from the farm

I'm always attracted to the images of the calm before (or in the eye of) the figurative storm...

It's festival weekend at Filberg park and that definitely constitutes a storm; music, food, and artisans galore and of course the crowds of visitors that go with it. I've worked at the Hands on Farm for 8 of the past 11 summers and usually go back to help out during the festival when the number of daily farm visitors increases 3-5x(sometimes more!) that of a normal busy summer saturday...

Looking at my photos just now I realized that I don't have any of the farm or the festival in the midst of the busy-ness. This is probably partly due to the fact that I'm too busy to take photos at that time, but mostly due to the fact that I really don't like trying to capture random people I don't know-I'm conscious of the fact that they might not like me taking their pictures...especially in the case of parents and kids...I really don't want to be on the 'wrong side' of a protective parent. That said, these 'calm' pictures need contrast to be effective so my plan for tomorrow is to capture the storm!
