Rail yard...

Many a random trains of thought in my head today...practically a rail yard's worth of them in fact.  I ought to be occupied by work but I suppose it's indicative of how bored I am that my mind keeps drifting elsewhere.  What to do with them?  Subject anyone who stumbles across my blog to a small selection of them of course ;)

1. I don't want to be 45 and thinking to myself as I purchase art from an arts and craft fair that I ought to get my act together and sell my own handiwork because here I am buying the same type of thing from someone else and they are making a pretty penny off it.

2. I miss the days of being excited over the possibility of really good photos coming out of what I just shot.  A whole month of photo-a-day and all I got was two photos I really like out of hundreds.  I am picky but not that picky.  I can do better.

3. "No, you do not need to spend money on a mocha today."
-thought while walking towards the accountant's office to drop off some paper.
"Why do I have the uncomfortable feeling that ex is going to drive by? There are many a road he can travel on in this town...the likelihood of it being down this road at this very moment while you are standing here at the crosswalk is slim.  You run into him maybe 2x a year, no point in even wasting time wondering about it."
-thought about 45 seconds after the mocha thought while standing at the crosswalk of a busy thoroughfare in town.
"Hmmm black SUV with bush bar coming my way.  SERIOUSLY?!  Yeaaaaah, I know you saw me, the way the road curves here it's kind of impossible not to see someone standing at this corner.  You couldn't have not seen me even though you are doing an excellent job of staring straight ahead as you drive by.
- damn ex.
"Me thinks I will have that mocha after all.  Harumph."
-(Something needs to counteract the grumpy that said ex always brings out in me)

4. I'm never going to be an accountant.  I just don't care enough about other people and their money.

Seeing Red

Yup, definitely seeing red at the moment but not in that negative angry sense.

It's three days to Canada Day which means I'm up to my eyeballs in dance costuming for our annual performance as part of the evening's cultural celebrations at the city's theatre. This year we're attempting to be more unified in our costume by having a common colour theme - that being red. Very red (very appropriate of course).

I like red; in moderation. Right now I have to admit that I'd like to not have to sew anything more in red for quite some time ;)

sign of the times

I woke up this morning and looked out on a gorgeous sunny day and wondered if it was the solstice today, or tomorrow, or if somehow in among general busy life business it had passed unnoticed. I realized that I don't own a paper calendar on which to look it up. I thought to google it. Then I thought that Google would likely "tell" me which day it was by changing their logo on their home page and so I didn't even bother to look it up. Hmmm...talk about a bit too internet dependant.

*Note* Google did Not celebrate the solstice with a google doodle :(

lost art of blogging...

30km of paddling, kayaking, trekking, riding, and orienteering just may be enough to tempt me to come back here and write something.

Check back after Saturday ;)

Bye Bye Bike

I found my trusty steed a new home...I'm sad to part with it but really-why let it collect dust in my basement if there is someone else out there who can enjoy it (I'm too attached to my 'stuff'; must try not to be). Better to just save a picture to remind me of my 13 year relationship ;)

I also had to take a picture as I found this to be an ironic occasion; I've wanted a bike rack since I got Missy-car 6 years ago and I only just got one. Today was the first, last, and only time I will transport my trusty steed with it :(

[ok ok I do have a new bike to use my bike rack with, but it's not the same - this was the "first" bike - like your first car. The bike I learned to drop off things on, the bike I rode "epic" rides to tomato creek and back on in high school, the bike I my first spd's were on, the bike on which I tried to keep up with all the boys on, the bike I attached jingle bells to and drove T nuts with all my jingling on that winter ride, the bike I endo'd on, etc etc...
You see...the new bike is just not the same.
