'ghetto' macro

It's a bit finicky, but you can take macro shots by removing your lens, reversing it, and holding it against the body of your camera. Not quite the same as owning a macro lens, but it works...mostly. They make reversing rings so that you can actually attach your lens to the camera that way; I was trying to hunt one down last night though I didn't (at the time) know what they were called and EvilMonkey suggested I look up 'ghetto macro'....*rolls eyes*

I broke my bike.

Well, a piece of it. It was bound to happen eventually - they were 3rd hand forks after all. I don't know what the boys did to them before I got them, but I suspect they weren't gentle. Had to put my stock forks back on which means I've regressed to riding a completely RIGID mountain bike. I guess that's not so bad considering that I have hardly been out on it at all in the past few years and when I have it has been on the road...but still...rigid?! Ouch.

Saga of the Shoes: Afterword

Now I know I said the saga of the shoes was over, but then I got this email (which had a lovely company letter head and pretty colours etc, but I have pasted just the text for simplicity's sake)...
This was about the time that VISA sent me a letter saying they were refunding my purchase. I have no words for the ridiculousness of this.

And I don't know why they correspond with me in French; the order page was all in English, though the website shows up half in French for me, but only sometimes. It is odd.

It appears that the saga of the shoes has come to an end. I got a letter from VISA today saying that they have been in contact with the merchant's bank and are crediting my account for the price of the shoes.

No new shoes for me.

Not that I need them...

...there is so little dancing in my life now.
