Yup, I'm still here. Of course you woudln't know if from my blog htough. Meh. I don't have anything particularly interesting to report, nor any particularly interesting thoughts to share.
Let's see.... Oh, ok, here's a thought from boxing day; mulled wine in the parking lot after dragon boating is a good thing. I'll leave the fireball whiskey to the guy that brought it (who brings whiskey paddling!?!? Kind of funny though to see a guy pull out half a mickey of fireball...)
Hmmm, another thought? Yes, not so random contemplation on dogs; dogs are fine. Some are good (Rowdy, Waldo, Bain), but I really don't like any of them trying to get into my lap while I'm eating dinner. There's a reason it's called "people food". But really, I'm a cat girl at heart.
Dancing is good (most of the time). I like to dance; I wish I was really good at it, but I'm not. I enjoy it regardless.
~ i did warn you that none of this was going to be particularly though-provoking, right? ~
What else? Ordering new dance shoes is very exciting. And if you are unfortunate enough to have to order them from a shop in London (yes, England) you get to be excited for a very long time....2 months, 2 weeks, and counting...
Ahhh, this is good http://www.svenbudelmann.de/Movies/Movies2003/Demo.html Gorgeous dancer by the name of Polina Semionova. Her expressiveness and fluidity amazes me. If only I could speak German (Steve, help!!).
Boomer. How is it that we go to a photography lecture by him and although we heard nothing new (lucky us in the pro photo program who had classes with him for 4 months) we still come out of the lecture inspired to shoot? That is impressive I think. or something.
I was intending to take a picture a day. But that doesn't seem to be happening.
ok, i'm done. I promise next time I won't write unless it is interesting ;)

The Art of Weaving...
I can't say I've ever wondered about this, but after seeing the pictures it strikes me as an interesting idea. The art of weaving a web must take some skill, so if you're a spider that's been inadvertantly consuming drugged flys I suppose it might turn out a little differently then planned.
http://www.cannabis.net/weblife.html
I find it interesting that by far the most disorganised web is the one on caffine. Good things spiders don't have Starbucks.
*edit* ok, I just checked out the links below the photos and the spiders on benzedrine are much much worse than the caffinated ones.

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate writing essays? No. I didn't think so.
I HATE writing essays. Especially ones for classes in English literature.

BCAA is my friend
Do you ever get into your vehicle knowing that something is going to go wrong on your drive? Even though you have done everything you can think of to limit the possible problems (fed the car, gave it coolant, checked it's tires' pressure, oil, etc) you know something is going to happen. I hate that feeling. Experience has taught me that I need to heed such intuition.
So last night (after "losing" my wallet twice in three hours, you know it's going to be a good night when...) I headed home from Nanaimo. Went through the road check without incident - I should hope so; I certainly hadn't been drinking - and stopped at the gas station to feed Missy car and do the aforementioned coolant check (Mike! You said the water pump you ordered has come in, where is it??) This would be the 2nd wallet losing incident of the night; I eventually found it under my seat after ransacking the entire car looking for it.
Off I go, heading out to the highway...music on...happy the nasty weather has stopped... contemplating watching the original Dirty Dancing movie when I get home. I was trying to ignore the unpleasant "car is going to do something bad this evening" feeling which was still lingering in the back of my mind, hoping that perhaps if I didn't think about what might go wrong and where it might go wrong it wouldn't actually happen. It's not like she has broken down on every single other occasion I have felt this way. I am a touch paranoid when it comes to Missy-car. But then she comes by the name very honestly; there are so many appropriate words for her that start with "mis" (misbehaving, miserable, mischievous, miscreant..) that she just has to be called "Missy-car".
Not thinking about things doesn't keep them from happening. Granted, this time it wasn't the car's fault. Stupid pokey thing on the road. I'm perfectly capable of changing a tire. But not on a dark highway where there's only Just enough room for a car to pull over. This is why I pay BCAA every year. So they can come with their nice big towtruck, park in front of me so there's enough light to actually see the tire, turn on their flashing lights so that cars will use the left lane instead of driving by in the right lane, only (2 feet from my car) and put the spare tire on for me. Yay BCAA.
Interesting side note - despite the fact that it would have been more than idiotic of me to try and change the tire myself in that situation I still felt mildly guilty for standing around doing nothing while the nice towtruck guy was changing the tire.
